With the invention of computers and the advent of internet, the game of poker has now taken a big leap forward. Poker which was earlier played in the casinos made of brick and mortar can now be played sitting online in the comfort of your homes and with players from around the world. And after online poker came in, the craze to play poker has gone beyond the imaginations even. Internet poker or the online poker is still in its infancy and has to stand many tests of time.

Sitting online and playing against people around the world is no doubt going to be a very exhilarating experience and you can enjoy it a lot and make money from it as well. But as always there are both pros and cons of playing joker poker online.

Let us first understand what the benefits of playing online casino video poker are? First and foremost, you can start playing right in front of your system from the comfort of your homes and you need not have to wait for poker tables to get free like in normal poker rooms. You can immediately start playing in any of the rooms you like. Most of the online poker rooms offer a chance to the players to practice a few games before you actually start playing against some opponents.

Online poker being a very competitive industry, offers the new entrants with lots of bonuses and free money to start playing. And most of the online rooms allow players to start playing with very less money or with the initial deposit they make in the players account while they join. online casino games are known to have a lot more options in selecting games than the physical poker rooms which have limited games to offer.

There are many other special features which come with the online poker like the ease to transfer money online so that you can play without any hassle. Certain modes of payments include credit cards, Neteller, click2Pay etc. Some poker software also comes with an option to play the game in your own mother tongue. So that’s an added advantage. And on that you need not face some real annoyances like that of smokers in online poker.

But with all these benefits there are also a few issues which should be looked into before you start playing online poker. First of all you should find out good poker rooms to start playing. Check out all the reviews of the online poker room, the features they offer and then finally make any decision. In most of the online poker rooms you need to be very patient for getting your money once you cash out. It generally takes 2-4 weeks of time to get the money in your account.

Unlike in the live poker rooms, you don’t get to face your opponent face to face which adds more thrill and vigour to the game. It looks a bit passive. There are also people who get addicted to playing online poker as it is readily available and payments options are also so easy. So you should make a conscious effort to prevent yourself from this. It is also seen that a few even resort to theft and robbery just to join and play online poker.

So in a nutshell, online poker comes with several advantages and disadvantages. Always review the poker rooms well before you join them. And keep all the above factors in mind while you enter into the world of online poker.

Strategy with Kristy: Nick DiVella
May 03 2012, Kristy Arnett Related Articles Strategy with Kristy: Aaron Jones Part Two Strategy with Kristy: Reid Young Discusses Showdown Value Strategy with Kristy: Tax Time Share It Tags Las Vegas, PokerNews Podcast, PokerNews Strategy Print Nick DiVella, 24, lives in Las Vegas and is a professional live cash-game grinder. Previously an online player, DiVella now plays $5/$10 and $10/$20 and is a coach at StackemCoaching.com. On the latest edition of Strategy with Kristy, DiVella discusses taking shots in live games and two cash-game hands. Here is a snippet from the interview during which DiVella talks about a hand his friend played at $5/$10: He was stuck a little bit when this hand came up last week at Aria. He makes it $40 under-the-gun with jack-ten of hearts. He gets four callers, so there’s $200 in the pot. The flop comes nine-eight-three rainbow. He leads with $140 and gets one call. The turn is the four of hearts. He leads for $250 with an open-ended straight draw and flush draw. His opponent raises to $800. The player is a little wily but doesn’t get out of line too much. We have $1,700 in our stack, and it’s another $550 to call. I guess I”ll turn it over to you. What would you do? Well, I don’t think we have fold equity. I don’t think so either. That’s what I told my friend. It’s not often that someone raises to $800 and folds here. Maybe if he bet $120 and his opponent raised to $300 and we had $1,400 or $1,600 behind. Then I think a shove is OK. I think the right play here is to call. A few of my students have said that they would fold because they don’t like sticking half their stack in with a draw, and that is very bad thinking. You have to realize that the pot odds are there and implied odds. If you hit your draw, you’re just going to open shove $1,100 and probably get called by a set or two pair. And if they were on a draw themselves, then that’s just how it goes. So anyway, he ended up calling $550 and the river was an offsuit six. The action went check, check. Since his opponent’s range is most likely two pairs and sets, I don’t think he should shove river when he bricks. I think it’s suicidal. But, his opponent ended up showing king-eight for just a pair of eights. It turns out, we actually did have fold equity on the turn, but I think that it’s so rare. [Laughs] I guess when putting someone on a range, you can add in a couple of “spazzes,” too, if the player is capable of a few. Yeah, I think that this happens less than 10 percent of the time. Podcast Powered By Podbean Tune in every week for new episodes of Strategy with Kristy.

Reflections on the Full Tilt Poker Smear Campaign
published on 09/21/11 at 4:18 pm With all the news coming out about Full Tilt Poker and a so-called Ponzi scheme, I felt the need to say something. First, let me start by saying that Full Tilt Poker is a class organization that has treated this organization and overseas bank accounts fairly throughout the years. Howard Lederer and Jesus Ferguson are honest, trust worthy individuals. Not to mention, Rafe Furst, although he did move to Mexico, I can only say his work with charities and the Bad Beat on Cancer have garnered the utmost respect from me. Second, it is a shame to see the U.S. government stick their noses into something that was good for the poker industry, the nations economy, and an individuals self esteem. The majority of players online are terrible and just give money to the lucky few. But these players kept depositing funds into their accounts, helping my lifestyle with a variety of extravagant needs. So what a player did not know about the inner processes of Full Tilt, did not hurt them. They would never have withdrawn funds in the first place. Third, all these dopes posting about a 400 million dollar hole in Full Tilt Pokers finances, do not know one thing about international finance. 99% of their money is in overseas accounts. To get their money into U.S. accredited bank accounts takes several months, due to the Patriot Act. I believe Mr. Lederer and Mr. Ferguson are just waiting for the funds to go through the proper channels and everyone will be promptly paid. So let us stop slinging the proverbial mud at Full Tilt Poker. We need to let this show trial run its course and in the end, you shall all see that they are innocent of all charges.

Success in the $20,000 Guaranteed
Posted by Steven, April 15, 2012 Player zekaspt from Portugal signed up at Titan Poker on Thursday and the next day he played the $20,000 Guaranteed, a re-buy event with a $30 + $3 buy-in that kicked off at 19:00 GMT+1. One hour later he began play in another $20,000 Guaranteed R/A; this one featured a $15 + $1.50 buy-in. In both events the Portuguese player finished in the money. The first tournament attracted 279 players and lasted just over seven hours. When heads-up play began, zekaspt was ahead of AlexeyZykov by a 2-1 margin. The Portuguese player managed to keep the lead through 8 hands until he called the A 9 all-in of his opponent holding jacks, one of which was a diamond. The flop and turn delivered four more diamonds to complete a flush, and zekaspt emerged with the first prize payout of $4,404.93. In the parallel tournament, zekaspt finished in fifth place for a payout of $1,151.82. In his final hand, zekaspt went all-in with A 9 and was called by a player holding A J. The flop was J 7 Q, and the pair of jacks was enough to knock out the Portuguese player. The $20,000 Guaranteed staged on Saturday night at 20:00 GMT+1 with a $10 + $1 buy-in attracted 734 starters. When only four players remained, all four were from Titan Poker. First to go was fgiretti from Argentina, who went all-in with his short stack and pocket cards of Q T. He was called by Russian player ihateluck who had pocket eights. A third eight appeared on the flop and the decks fourth eight appeared on the river. fgiretti was eliminated with a $1,518.90 prize. ihateluck was the next player to go. He went all-in with pocket tens and was called by German player memetic who had pocket aces. The flop delivered A T 3, and the set of aces won the hand. For his third place finish, ihateluck won $2,031.42. Heads-up play began with memetic faced up against fellow German pokertotti1972. The one-on-one battle continued for some time until a hand when memetic went all-in holding A J, only to find that his opponent held A K. An ace appeared on the flop, but the jack on the river gave memetica huge windfall in chips. Ten hands later, memetic hit a set of nines and eliminated pokertotti1972 to claim first prize of $3,726.86. For his second place finish, pokertotti1972 received $2,712.02.

New Rake Contribution Method
New Rake Contribution Method From March 5th, 2012, we are changing our rake contribution calculation to a weighted contribution method. This system is the fairest possible method for calculating a player’s rake. Only players who contribute to the pot will get a portion of the rake; their portion is calculated based on how much money they have put into the pot. If a player folds pre-flop without contributing anything to the pot, no rake will be awarded to him. You can still redeem your points in our VIP Club! Our new points table will be updated on March 5th on our point accumulation page. Publish Date : 23/02/2012 Print Article Send To Friend
